Course Description

This foundational course introduces students to the basics of professional practices in the arts, focusing on how artists and designers can contribute to civic life through entrepreneurial and creative practices. Students will examine their personal goals, ethics, and ideas related to their areas of interest and the broader art world. Projects will include creating an Artist Statement, Bio, Resume, and CV, with the goal of continuous revision throughout their education. Topics such as personal finance, creative entrepreneurship, budgeting, and the social, ethical, and ecological impact of artistic practice will be explored. Emphasis will also be placed on understanding the importance of nurturing both self and community as artists, fostering a sense of creative citizenship.
