Sculpture (BFA)

Develop beginning proficiency in a variety of traditional and digital three-dimensional sculptural techniques, plus advanced proficiency in one sculptural technique. This includes material literacies, hand skills, digital fluency, and critical thinking to create three dimensional work in a variety of sculptural media with intentionality, care, safe practices, rigorous craft, and deep experimentation. Develop a sophisticated sculptural practice that includes conceptual thinking, material empathy, personal voice, interdisciplinarity, versatility, and the resilience to adapt to innovations within the field. (PNCA CLO 1)

Contextualize personal work within a larger context of sculptural history and theory, developing literacy with the expansiveness and scope of contemporary sculptural practice. (PNCA CLO 3, 6)

Communicate productively at all stages of sculptural practice. From ideation to prototyping to project development to critique, use a variety of visual and verbal methods to communicate individually and collaboratively with a focus on respect and professionalism. (PNCA CLO 2)

Apply critical thinking to sculptural practice, solving problems with increasing confidence, and engaging in an ongoing critical dialogue with peers, faculty, and community. (PNCA CLO 2, 3)

Actively engage with the Sculpture community within and beyond the college. This includes cooperative working habits that care for communal workspaces, respect for community members, participating in community-engaged creative practices, and facilitating positive culture within the department. (PNCA CLO 6)
