Each MBA/MSDS student is responsible for a thorough knowledge of graduation requirements. The Willamette MBA for Business, Government and Not-for-Profit Management (MBA) will be conferred on MBA/MSDS students who satisfactorily complete all the requirements as listed below within the policies and regulations of Data Science and the Atkinson School:

Minimum Total Credits Required: MBA/MSDS joint degree candidates must complete a minimum eighty-one (81) semester credits of coursework. These 81 semester credits include 28 semester hours of coursework in Data Science and 53 semester credits of Atkinson School course work.

Minimum MBA Credits: MBA/MSDS students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of fifty- three (53) approved credits of MBA course work and have no pending grades or grades of "Incomplete." The 53 credits of MBA course work must include forty-one (41) credits of required courses as listed below (which includes 4 credits from the required Experiential Elective and 3 credits of internship), plus eight (8) additional credits of MBA elective course work, and four (4) credits from a DS eligible GSM elective.

Minimum MSDS Credits: MBA/MSDS students must satisfactorily complete a minimum of twenty eight (28) approved credits of MSDS course work and have no pending grades or grades of "Incomplete." Students may choose between course or course in their final semester.

Elective Courses: In addition to completing a minimum of forty-one (41) credits of required courses listed above MBA/MSDS students are required to complete an additional twelve (12) credits of MBA elective course work to include eight (8) credits of MBA elective course work and four (4) credits from an MBA/DS-eligible elective.

Required Experiential Elective: A minimum of four (4) credits from an Experiential Elective is required for graduation and is shown in the list of required courses. Experiential Elective courses are special elective courses that include a meaningful interaction with organizations or environments, input from the organizations or environments that affects the completion of a deliverable for the class, and an opportunity for students to formally reflect on the factors which led to the success or failure of the experiential activity. Experiential Elective courses are designated by the faculty and are identified on the schedule of classes. Students can take more than one Experiential Elective if they choose.

Integrated Knowledge Experience Week (IKEW) Exercises: MBA/MSDS students must satisfactorily complete the IKEW requirement of the MBA program.

course Internship for Management: MBA/MSDS students are required to complete a course Internship for Management for three (3) elective credits. The internship course is generally completed during the summer between the first and second year of study.

Academic Concentrations: Choosing a concentration is not required. Students may also choose to select elective courses based on their own needs and career goals.

Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average and Good Standing: MBA/MSDS candidates for graduation must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (B) or higher, comply with requirements determined by the school's faculty, and be in Good Standing within all policies of the Atkinson School, the School of Computing and Information Sciences, and Willamette University.

Minimum and Maximum Time for Degree: The MBA/MSDS joint degree program must be taken over no less than two academic years. An academic year consists of a fall semester, spring, and summer semester. In addition, the candidate must complete the MBA degree within six (6) years from date of initial enrollment in the degree program.

MBA Independent Study and Internship for MBA/MSDS Students: MBA/MSDS students may apply a maximum of seven (7) credits from a combination of GSM Internship for Management, Independent Study and Research toward graduation requirements.

Submit Petition for Degree: Candidates for graduation must submit a "petition for degree" at the beginning of their final semester in the MBA/MSDS program.

Completion of all MBA and MSDS graduation requirements: MBA/MSDS students must meet all academic regulations and graduation requirements governing the MBA program unless specifically described in these regulations. MBA/MSDS degree candidates must have also completed all graduation requirements of the MSDS degree as stipulated by Data Science to be eligible for MBA graduation from the Atkinson School.

Other Regulations: Regulations governing the courses for the degree program at either school (Data Science or Atkinson) shall apply unless they are inconsistent with these MBA/MSDS joint degree regulations.

Curriculum Changes: In the event the curriculum or graduation requirements are changed, the rules in effect at the time of the student's entry to the program will apply unless otherwise stated.
